Natural burial – £2500 plus burial plot fee and any other costs
My professional fee is £2500, which covers the essential logistics and administration, but not the cost of a burial plot or some other optional additions (please see below). Once I know your plans, I will put together a detailed estimate. The professional fee of £2500 covers the following:
➤ Bringing the person who’s died into my care until the day of the funeral
➤ Collecting the person from the place where they died on a weekday during working hours of 9am to 5pm (£250 extra if outside of these hours)
➤ Care in a mortuary before the funeral, for up to three weeks (£15 extra per day thereafter)
➤ A meeting with your family to discuss the options for the funeral, usually in person, with unlimited telephone/email/video calls after that, while we’re making plans – I will also suggest simple nature rituals to support you all through the process
➤ Liaising with all parties involved, including natural burial grounds, hospital staff, venues and florists, as needed
➤ Washing and dressing the person who’s died
➤ A simple cardboard coffin (if you wish, you can upgrade to a different type of biodegradable coffin for an additional cost)
➤ A simple hearse to the funeral venue
➤ Four pallbearers to carry the coffin
Natural burial ground fees
The fee for a plot at a natural burial is likely to be the most significant cost. Prices vary but to give you an idea, here are the costs at two natural burial grounds in my area:
Clandon Wood Natural Burial Ground, Surrey – from £3760
South Downs Natural Burial Ground, Hampshire – from £4261
Additional costs to consider
I can also design, write and hold a beautiful, honouring tribute, or you can use another celebrant –please see celebrancy prices below. Other optional items and services to think about include venue hire for the wake, flowers, design and printing of the order of service, refreshments, musicians and professional live-streaming on the day. Once we’ve had a meeting, I’ll provide a detailed estimate..

Celebrancy – from £300
I often work with families as both funeral director and celebrant, but you can involve me as a celebrant even if I’m not looking after the other arrangements. For example, I can support with an ashes ceremony after a direct cremation. I’ll work closely with you to create a special tribute to your loved one. My starting fee is £300, which covers:
➤ A meeting (in person if possible, or by video call) to talk about your loved one and plan a simple ceremony of up to 40 minutes
➤ Writing a tribute (eulogy), including liaising with you on edits and additions
➤ Guidance to help you think about music and readings for your loved one, if desired
➤ Holding the ceremony on the day (plus travel costs outside the Greater London/Surrey area)
I specialise in holding bespoke ceremonies and celebrations with a difference, including nature-based rituals to support grieving and bring a sense of magic. These types of event are usually held in alternative spaces that allow more time than the typical crematorium – from beaches and woodland to beautiful venues. I can offer full support to help you design a meaningful ceremony, from structuring the event and liaising with others contributing to writing the tribute, holding the service on the day, and overseeing I’m open to all your ideas and will work closely with you to create a bespoke celebration. Once we’ve discussed your wishes, I will draw up a proposal with an estimate.
